08 / "McCain Resorts to Dirty Tricks"
John McCain
won the Florida primary on Tuesday, but
polls showed Romney in the lead in the state
until McCain won the last minute endorsement
of the governor and went public with a false
attack that Romney had advocated for a
withdrawal timetable from Iraq in April.
When
pressed about the allegation in the debate
on Sunday night at the Reagan Library,
McCain subbornly stood by his attack despite
being refuted by Anderson Cooper and almost
every major journalist. Unsuccessfully
trying to take Romney's remarks in an
interview out of context.
Unfortunately, many Republican primary
voters believe McCain's 'Straight Talk'.
McCain
bristles in debates when opponents mention
aspects of his record, yet he expects Romney
to stand idly by and take the unfair
beating.
The economy
has become the foremost issue in the
presidential campaign. Because of Romney's
extensive business record and knowledge
about the economy, McCain wanted to change
the subject back to national security.
