Congress
put its faith and confidence in General Petraeus, and today
he will report on our progress in the war in Iraq.
Petraeus's biography demonstrates that he is the right man
at the right time. And the United States needs such a
military leader at this moment in history. Reeling from
mistakes that have been made in Iraq, General P is likely to
say that we can recover from those mistakes and still
achieve our objectives in Iraq.
Because
this is not the news that some members of Congress want to
hear, his views will undoubtedly be discounted / called into
question /
Some may
even insinuate that the report is the product of the White
House.
Whom to
believe? The American people have to believe someone. And
right now that person is General David Petraeus.
To
withdraw seals our fate -- defeat. Despite all the
sacrifices the United States has made.
To echo
the words of Mike Huckabee in a recent presidential debate:
We broke it. We own it. We are obligated to do the right
thing in Iraq. Our withdrawal would be a greater mistake.
With
mainstream media reporting that the U.S military is making
progress on the ground in Iraq.
